It's not an entirely bad section of the game, but it whiffs of Xen, and leaves you feeling deflated - especially after the stunning intro showing off the Source engine's newfound ability to explode really large things.įor the game to be touted as taking a new direction towards grand, open vistas and rolling, beforested hills, only to send you almost immediately down a mine shaft, is disappointing. A wholly more annoying sort of antlion which vomits acid on you, not unlike the original game's bullsquids. Valve have decided to have the mute Gordon Freeman spelunk a giant antlion cave, full of not just antlions, but a new sort of antlion. If you're like anybody else, and had had enough of the limitless, hive-minded cannon fodder by the end of Half-Life 2, then you won't. If this sounds like you, and you'd marry an antlion, then you'll love the first section of Episode Two. Just for the fun physics, or tossing stuff and getting your a** beat by metro cops in the train station.So Who Likes antlions? And I mean really likes antlions, enough to marry one.
So, in closing, this is a must own for any PC gamer. It really doesn't require you to have played the original Half-Life to understand the story. Take note that on easier settings, the A.I. And the water.well, it's the best looking water EVER. This shows how Valve wanted great graphics and technology while having a large amount of gamers being allowed to play. I'm getting at least 25 - 30 fps(frames per second). Half-Life 2 runs great on lower end systems. I'll just talk about my experiences, not anything about the story. Finally, STEAM (From Valve, not Sierra) is a good program. Of course, I have it on low settings, but still it runs great.
I have a poor FX5200, and I've had no graphical problems. Either Matrix29 has a poor video card or outdated drivers. Second, the graphical problems they're having are a problem with THEIR compputer. But the program is on the CD/DVD (depending how you got it). Ignore "A poor game and STEAM is crapware." That person clearly doesn't know what they're talking about.
